Default Trying to Identify this painting that I saw at the Louvre

I am hoping someone can help me. I visited Paris in August and now as I am going through my pictures, I am wanting to know the name of this painting that I saw in the Louvre and the name of the artist that painted it. I have searched the net and the Louvre web site but an unable to find this painting. Sure hope someone can help!! See picture in attachment.
Thank-you to anyone who can help!! Greatly appreciated!

That painting is in the Louvre? I have no recollection of it.

Anyway, is it possible the person being arrested(?) is Galileo? Just a thought.

Good thought..! Although, I think the man on the floor is actually being killed. I did a search for paintings on Galileo being arrested and no such luck!! Thanks for your suggestion!!

I think the key to identifying the subject will be the hat with the white cross. Most of the dress appears to be from the Renaissance, and the presence of a monk in robes suggests there's some kind of religious element to the story, but the hat in particular looks like it is the symbol for some kind specific "official" police or militia.

I found it!!! The name of the painting is Scène de la Saint-Barthélemy
and the aqrtist is Joseph-Nicholas Robert-Fleury. I didn't realize that you could go into the database at the Louvre web site and look at the paintings!! I found it in room 66 of 67 in ther French painitings section!
