This was the residence of Senator Thomas W. Palmer in Detroit on Woodward Ave. He was quite an avid art collector but there is no precise catalogue of his collection. I would like to identify the unframed painting in the bottom center facing front for I find it a very beautiful painting and would love to see it in person if it still exists. By that I mean, there was a fire which destroyed part of Mr. Palmer's house and it is not known if this painting survived (an effort was made to save all salvageable paintings).
Thank you. ![]() |

Interesting painting. It reminds me of Rockwell Kent more than anyone else I can think of.

Thanks, I'll look into him.
I should add, this painting is likely dated late 1890s or very early 1900s (but not later than the early teens). It is likely an American artist as Mr. Palmer was an avid collector of American art. Can anyone identify the style of the painting? Perhaps if I know the style, I can research artists who painted in that style. |
