Default D.B. Conrad landscape painting

My wife insists that a painting we purchased years ago at a garage
sale is very valuable. It depicts a beautiful landscape with mountains,
trees and a lake and is signed D.B. Conrad. Nothing turned up by
performing a Google search!
Appreciate any leads on this painter and how we may be able to identify
the value visually.

Thank you
Tesfaye

Try this Google search for Dan B. Conrad (1888-1946). Sorry, I don't have any idea what his paintings have sold for.

Hi, you'd know about Chrisites I suppose? They are experts on art and could identify your artist. They also hold big auctions of course.

Default Dan B. Conrad

Hi,

I am the grandson of Dan B. Conrad and collect his paintings due to the realationship. You are absolutely correct that he was a wonderful painter.
I do own 5 original oils and know of other relatives that own perhaps another 15 or so. I am aware of at least two past auction sales of his oils, but have no info as to price.

I bought one of my oils for $350 and spent another $650 on restoration. I have offered $500 to purchase other of his works, but have had no takers. Most of the owners bought them from him directly prior to his death in 1946 and have a sentimental attachment to them.

He painted mostly in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but also some in Texas and California. He did mostly beautiful landscapes and some flowers, seascapes, and animals. I also own a portrait of me at age 2.

There is no actual market for his works that I am aware of other than from relatives such as me. As to value, I would pay $500 plus shipping if I find any for sale.

I would really appreciate getting an e-mailed or mailed photo of your painting to add to my collection. I am kind of the family historian and share the photos with other relatives.

Besides my father, Robert, he had another son, Clifford, and two daughters, Frances and Nancy. Only the two daughters are still alive.

Dan was born in Drøbak, Norway and came to the US at age 20. His birth name was Daniel Bolstad Jensen, but he decided to use his father's middle name, Conrad (Konrad) due the many Jensen's living in Minnesota. He was a wonderful man and I have memories of sitting on his lap while he painted at age 4. His father, Charles Konrad Jensen, was a master painter in Norway and every one of his eight children were artists.

I would be happy to e-mail photos to you of some of his works if you are interested.

Regards,

Smile have a painting

I believe we have a painting of your Grandfathers' It is a 17 x 22 snow covered mountians in the backgroung a waterfall coming into a wide river or lake. A bluish painting. It does have Dan B Conrad in the bottom left corner. It is framed in a Reliance from Chicago style number 117.

This had been hanging on his Grandmothers wall as long as he can remember and he is 50+ And the Grandmother had recieved it from an aunt.

If I had looked this up a week ago I never would have found you....... how amasing is that?

Does this sound like one of your Grandfathers?
