In 1991, I purchased a print in a beautiful antique frame, from an Antique Store located in Raleigh, NC. The print had been acquired from the family of an eldery woman who had it hanging in her living room for several years. It is covered with soot from a coal stove. It appears quite fragile, with worn corners. Would like to have it cleamed, but fear it will fall apart!
The print is titled WELCOME HOME. It shows a Black Soldier standing in an open door way, with a young girl clinging to his leg and a woman handing a small child to him. There are other folks included, with an exquisitely set round table. Floor rugs appear to have small flowers in them. The item which stands out most is a portrait of Abraham Lincoln hanging on the wall, draped with an American Flag. Wonder if this denotes time frame of print, or if he was included as a symbol of respect. I'm searching for Artist Name and time frame it would have been painted in. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! |

You can upload a picture using the paperclip icon for attachments. (Limit 500K in size.) Also a close-up of any signature or identifying markings on the picture would would be helpful.
