I love anything about american history, so when I ran across this piece a few years back I had to have it. Since then, I've not been able to find out anything on it's roots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The signature appears to be Robert Lawton, or Robert Lawyer. My piece id numbered #13 of #50. Thank you in advance.... |

Robert Lawson - Coronation Of George Washington.
http://www.arcadja.com/auctions/en/l.../artist/43905/ I'm not a US history buff, so I wonder what the significance of the word "coronation" is here? Satire? Or perhaps this is the word that was in use before the swearing-in ceremony became an "inauguration"? |
