I have what believe to be a print. It's definitely an original, and quite old. It is of a young girl, holding a caged white mouse while an orange tabby cat is standing on haunches attempting to get to the cage. I can't find any information as to who the artist is, and was hoping for some help. On the back, it was inscribed "for dear little mary" signed H H Knight, done in inkwell style. I did some research on H H Knight, and found he lived 1795-1857 in England. More here: http://wbo.llgc.org.uk/en/s-KNIG-HEY-1795.html
The man that owned it recently passed, and this was one of his favorite paintings, he always spoke of its extreme high value and rarity. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to the origin and/or artist. Here is a link to a couple pictures of the print: http://s1058.photobucket.com/albums/t413/bfoker/ |
