I have had a print of what I believe to be a renaissance painting for many years without ever knowing the title or artist. I'm really curious about it and wonder will anyone recognise it from the following description of its subject matter:a young couple standing in front of window, man's right leg is chained to wall, he appears to be imprisoned, woman is wearing pale blue dress/robes and headdress, similar to nun's habit, woman is placing both hands on man's heart, lute hanging near window, cloak on floor ...i'd be really gratedul for any thoughts, ideas or suggestions??

Try getting a digital image and putting it into Google's reverse image search. Just go to their image search and click the little camera icon inside the search box. That often works if it's a commonly reproduced image.
Failing that, post it here and maybe someone will recognize it. |

Searched on Google Images as suggested and have discovered that my print is by William Holman Hunt and titled 'Claudio and Isabella' (1850) depicting a scene from Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure'...mystery solved!

Glad it worked for you. I remember Claudio's face so I guess I've seen this painting before, but I either never noticed or forgot that he was in chains.
