Who is this painter in 1943 Detroit?
I have a painting that is inscribed with pencil on the stretcher: Winter Scene France. It is a beautiful detailed landscape with signature that looks like.. James M Stieke, Detroit, Sept 1943 on the lower right. I am unable to find information on this artist- does anyone have any idea who he is? I can find nothing. I hope I am seeing his signature properly. I enclose the jpegs.
