Hello all, I am new to this list. I stumbled in here after searching and searching for the artist A. Marc. I have 2 lithographs of his that my parents had in our home ever since I can remember. My mother told me that they were 2 of the first 5 color separation prints ever done.. she said in Belgium but I don't know if she is correct on this or not. They were published by Stehli Bros. in Zurich, who I have discovered, were in biz from 1902 to 1995 and were then bought out by Rosenstiels. I am curious to see if these prints have any monetary value. The label on the back says Series 1021 # 38. So Seems to have been a limited edition. The paintings are of homes in a village type setting. If anyone can direct me to, or has more info it would be great.
Thanks. Please email me @ judilight@mindspring.com if you can help me out. Thanks a bunch. |

I have just found out that a series of three lithographs that belonged to my mother, showing three scenes of New York City, are by the artist A. Marc. I would love to know more about this artist. One of these lithographs depict the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street; another is of Trinity Church in lower Manhattan, and the third lithograph has a label on the back indicating "Serie 1037 No 57; New York; Docks on Brooklyn Waterfront by A. Marc. Stehli Bros., Publishers, Zurich." If you have any information about this series or the artist A Marc, please email me at phyllis.gorman@gmail.com

Hi,
I too just discovered a lithograph by A. Marc with the same markings on the back as the above pieces. Mine is of the Tower Bridge in London and marked "Serie 1034: No.1". I'm hoping to keep an eye here for any further info on A. Marc. Sue |

Hi,
I also have two prints by A.Marc. One is Serie 1023 No. 108, New York view from Montague Terrace Brooklyn. The other is Serie 1037 No. 58, New York Harbour Scene on East River. Both printed by Stehli Bros. Zurich. I know my mother acquired them in the early 40's, but don't know when they were made. I would also appreciate any info about these prints or the artist. If anyone has a print that just shows the signature MARC on the front, if you take it out of the frame you will find the copyright info printed on the back. Thanks, phyllis.prtassoc@gmail.com |

I have heard two conflicting reports about this artist. One is that his name is Nicholas Markovich, a serbian artist who did landscapes and florals under noms de plume (or noms de brosse, as is more fitting). The other is that he was a Parisian architect whose first name was Andre.
I have one original watercolor and a print of the Matterhorn by this artist. I have seen record that his work has sold recently in Europe at auction, but I was not a member of the site I checked, so I couldn't get the price info. |

I don't know if these are available somewhere, but if you can get the auction catalogue of Susanin's, Chicago (March 25, 1995); Lot 960 you could find more informaton. It seems that there was a painting titled ''grande église'' by A. Marc(french painter) that has been sold 1100 USD
hope it helps |

Just acquired a print of a watercolor by A. Marc. Copyright info on the back reads: "Series 1022, No. 100, Rivapiana--Locarno, Chiesa S. Quirico, Stehli Freres, Editeurs, Zurich, Printed in Switzerland." Very tranquil scene--boat on lake, surrounding mountains, lots of green/blue colors. Size is 8-1/2 x 12-1/2 inches. Excellent condition except for some slight foxing on upper left corner.
Printers marks in lower left corner. The Net turns up a Rivapiana Hotel in Locarno, Switzerland/Italy on Lake Maggiore (?) --hotel may actually no longer be there. Also in scene is Chiesa San Quirico (church) high overlooking the lakefront. Type of frame seems to dictate that this artwork is from the 1930's. Nothing for sale on the net that I can find, at least not at the current time. You would think there would be more information somewhere on this artist since he was very prolific. Love the artwork but I many not necessarily keep it. |

I came across two A Marc watercolour prints in the attic which belonged to my mum and dad.
they are dated 1923 and one is serie 1022 no.27 Bergell (suisse) Albigna-Fall und Cacciabella. Printed in Zurich by Stehli Freres This one is signed Marc to the bottom right. The other is serie 1020 no.8 Maison du XVe siecle.(Loir-et-Cher) This one is signed Marc bottom left with a copyright symbol bottom right. It just says printed in Switzerland. Could anyone advise a rough value at all. Many thanks |

Four prints in original frames (white wood approx. 1" wide with fine gold trim); sealed by framer so that reverse is not accessible w/o breaking the backing paper.
I've got the church, Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, and possibly-the-library. Would prefer to sell and ship 'em all together. Reply to this note for further details and digial images, etc., please. "Learned Hand" |

This guy A. Marc surly got around. I have two prints on Lake Maggiori. Very pretty. Looks like the 30's or 40's type litho. The closest I came to finding anything like it was worth with frame $37.50, so I dont think they have any great value, but they are pretty. I will paint my frames and hang some where in my home and enjoy. They are from Zurich, Stehli

I got curious about the print I have from Series 1022 - #79 depicting Mount Pilatus in Lucerne and that led me to discover this website which looks pretty interesting. Curious that no one has something more definitive on the identity of A Marc. I agree that there is not likely much value in the prints but I like mine. The printing is well done and the painting skillful. Monsieur Marc had quite the touch. I'm going to keep checking to see if anyone learns more.

Just found two giclee prints by A Marc at allposters.com. Very different style than the print of my watercolour (Series1022-#79 of Mt Pilatus in Lucerne). I looked at the signature and it is the same. Giglees listed at CA$63 each. Another search came up with "Windmill at Waterside" at goantiques.com. This one is 10 x 14, framed and listed at $100. Our friend was sure talented and prolific.
