Does anyone know when A. Marc died? I just bought a lithograph, Neuchatel, Chateau et collegiate, from Stehil Freres, Zurich, Serie 1036 No. 75. In pencil at the bottom of the print is written evt 4-85...no idea what this means.
The print was sold by P. Loretti, S.A in Geneva...this may be of no value but it is certainly lovely, and very interesting to hear of others who have his work. thanks. |

I have also been searching for more information about A Marc....as I too have had a number of prints from my family and found, quite remarkably, a few more at an 'antiques' shop. I love them. Would you send me a photo of your print 'Central Park". I had lived there for most of my years and never knew he had done paintings in NYC. I have 3 of his done in Paris and 2 of what appears to be Holland. |

Wow! I don't know much about art, but bought a framed watercolor (I assume it's a print) at an antique store, just signed Marc. It's larger than 12 x 16--probably 24 x 28. I haven't taken it apart to look at the back. It is a lovely scene of country houses on a river (France? Germany?)--almost entirely green with pink flowers. Cool to see all this info.

This is very interesting to find other people intrigued by the artist A. Marc. I just found this wonderful print in a Goodwill Store of a chateau on Lake Geneva. I really wasn't sure if it was a print or, an original until I took it apart. Does anyone know if they are valuable? My print is #115 in a series of 1000. The colors are beautiful.

I don't know anything about the artist, A Marc, but I have a print that was owned by my late Mother (given to her as a gift circa 1936) . It's a depiction of London's Tower Bridge (Serie 1034: No.1), signed Marc. and bears the Stehli Bros. copyright/trademark logo. The colors are muted blues and grays and browns, and if I were to "audio-ize" this description, I'd swear I can hear a distant foghorn.

The real name is Markovitch. Marc was nos for watercolor but for reproduction, and it's not the same price. |

I have an A Marc litho Serie 1020: No 52, Paris-La Mardelieine, that's signed Marc with the A Marc and related info on the back. I'm ignorant about this series and about the group that published it. Are these considered original lithos or just copies that were produced in massive editions? Also, is the Stegi Freres group similar to the American Artists group that issued many prints in the 1930s or thereabouts? I found the comments that all of you have posted very informative and would really appreciate any more info that is available.
Thanks for your help. |

Hi to you all from New Zealand. Yes his prints even got this far and I was lucky to pick up two of his prints of English scenes. (1) Lower Slaughter Gloucester written in pencil on the rear shows the village scene near the old mill. Vibrant colours for a watercolour. (2) Monks Eleigh Suffolk shows the street scene looking toward the church. Date on rear 06/ 1932. Happy to share images if you email me. I am a watercolour artist and I rate his work with the best, excellent technique, vibrant colours, great wash effects. Contact me via my website; www.david-irving.com best regards Dave
