Default Identifying old painting-oil on wood

An elderly friend has asked me to try to identify a unsigned painting that he was given well over 30 years ago. It's in another city, and the photo is fairly awful. I can get another photo, but not for a few months when I go for another visit. For some reason he associates Mary and St. Anne with the painting, but that may not be accurate. On the wall it appears to be about 3' X 4'. I'd be grateful for being pointed in the right direction. Does one wrap this and wander into Christie's?
