When I hear "chubby" I think Fernando Botero. He also does chubby men and chubby animals.

There's also a British woman who paints this kind of subject, but I always forget her name.

Very possibly. While I'm here I'll just add that the artist whose name escaped me before was Beryl Cook.

I also have the Tiger picture with "kug" on the bottom left corner. Someone suggested it is Jung-kug, but I can't confirm. Does anyone know anything about this artist?

A picture would go a long way in helping to identify it.

Hi!
New in here, hopefully you can help me. I'm looking for the name and author of 2 paintings. 1st) I'm pretty sure it's from 1938 and an american painter. It's a red barn, with snow-covered rooftop, over a snowy landscape and a deep blue sky as background. There's some people on the painting and, I think, a cart or something similar. The colours are quite enhanced. 2nd) In a more "magical realism" style, there's a european village, with brick houses and chimenies, all covered in snow, then, in the middle of the village, there's a frozen wave of ice, forming a hill, over which there are more houses and some trees. On the right hand side you can see a fairly realistic winter sunset/sunrise. There's light in some of the windows. I'll try and get photos uploaded. I'd very much like to buy the original prints for both landscapes. Thanks in advance! C. |

#1 sounds like a painting by Dale Nichols: Company for Supper
There's also a whole bunch of Dale Nichols paintings on this page (which oddly enough is in Russian). A lot of them feature snow and a red barn and a deep blue sky. |

I too have this print which has hung on every bedroom wall I have had since I was only a year old. It means the world to me, I love it! I have always wondered who painted it and I have just found out it is a Swiss painter called Fritz Hug (I always thought it was signed Kug!). Check out his other paintings, there's some more good'uns. It has made me want to start collecting but they're rather pricey even for prints. Shame mine means too much to me to ever sell it! X
