Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to find out much info on this painting that was a gift to my grandmother 15 years ago. It appears to be signed Medeiros, but doesn't look similar to the styles of any artist with that name that I have been able to find online. I thought possibly Merle(Myrle) Medeiros, since the signature looks close to hers, and it came from a collector in Southern California. I would just like to know if it possibly could have any value, because I would like to refinish the frame to match my dining room decor, but I don't want to do any harm. Thanks for reading.

No, actually a relative of the artist was in contact with me for a while, but I still have not found out if this is definitely one of hers.

My sister and I now own 2 Medeiros floral oil paintings that had been our parents. Both w/Medeiros signatures and same styling as yours. Medeiros also did paintings of children. There is no doubt in my mind ours and your's were done by the same artist. Our's were both purchased in the mid to late 1960s in an art studio in Laguna Beach, CA. I believe the original prices were $750 and $850. Have been unable to find very little info about the artist. I do know that there were also playing cards with Medeiros' artwork on them, they were the children portraits (at least the decks we have).

Since I have posted on this thread last, I have discovered the "relative" that contacted me created a site, http://medeiros.weebly.com/ about the artist. Lots of information he has gathered from this thread and other sites.

I was wondering if anyone could be of help with a Medeiros painting that has been in my family since my brother was little---30+ years. I have no clue where to begin. I was about to yard sale this framed oil painting and thought better of it. I have looked on the website posted above and was unsuccessful. I have read the above messages and was wondering if anyone has any recent info on this artist. cphillips1976@hotmail.com
