Default Use of Flickr, etc

OK, so I am not an "artist", but I am a musician and have a fine art degree. I am trolling here amongst you folks for info. So maybe some one here can help me?

I have to help my college kid with a project, and he needs to incorporate some photos/art in his work. Problem is he must use copywritten images and get approval. But everyone wants money and we just really don't have it. Maybe we are not trying hard enough?

As Craig Ferguson says.. "I KNOW!!!!" This is actually for an internet design class.

Weird. I think this is a bit of an "on purpose" needle in a haystack search so that the class learns copyright law as a tangental learning experience.

Anyway, a friend of his suggested Flicker? I read that you can use some photos on there if you use it properly. Is anyone familiar with this or how it works?

Thanks to anyone that replies.

Look at the "Creative Commons License". Many Flickr images are uploaded with the restriction that they can be used for education but not for commercial purposes.

Also, Artcyclopedia artist listings have a green check-mark next to museums and image archives that explicitly allow certain types of use. In general these would be works from before the 20th century.

I found something called iPhoto. I am sure most of you know of it, but it is cool for me.

Anway, for less than 10 bucks we have photos that we are sure we can use.

Thanks again for all the help!
