Question Information on an Italian artist with last name of VITTI

Information please.

I have a landscape painting by an Italian artist who signed it as Vitti. The painting is of an old house sitting on a hill by a lake with snow capped mountains behind the lake. The picture was brought to the USA after WW11 by a soldier. The painting was registered in Italy and has a registration # of 212311. Is there anyone out there who has any idea of the full name of the artist and approximately how old the painting would be? Any information would be appreciated. Also, I have tried to locate a website that would provide information on tracing the registration in Italy but no luck so far. Any help there would also be appreciated.

Thank you

Jim

Jim, I have a friend who also has a oil painting from an Italian artist that was signed VITTI. Hers is titled "Street Scene" it was also authenticated by i believe Collier's. But unfortunately she is having the same difficulties as you in finding any information on the artist or the time period of the painting.

Default Vitti

Bob:

Thank you very much for the info.

I just wish I knew how to find out where the painting was registered in Italy and if there is a website for the place of registration. That would give a date to work on to find out about the artist.

Default Vitti Oil Painting

I have an oil painting signed by Vitti which is 8" x 10" and beautifully framed. It is of a street scene which looks to be France and has buildings and a windmill in the background with people walking on the street. Could this be the same artist you are speaking of? If you have found any information regarding Vitti, I would greatly appreciate it.

No information yet however, the relative who has this painting is in the process of getting it appraised by an agency in Dallas, Tx. Will let you know what he finds out.

Pat, My relative was unable to find out anything about his painting. The only information obtained was that the painting was probably painted in the 1800's. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Default Vitti Painting

I appreciate your help very much. My painting does not appear to be that old, so I assume it is not by the same artist.
