The painting seems to be of mixed medium, pastels perhaps and oil. It measures 10" by 13" and is done on heavy art paper. Would greatly appreciate any input in help identifying this artist, thanks!

Looks like it is broadly speaking in the style of John Constable.

It's a copy of The Market Cart by Thomas Gainsborough http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/pa...he-market-cart

Thanks ever so much, greatly appreciated.
Hercules: Wonderful. I always thought that this painting looked familiar, however, for some reason I was stuck on George Morland due to his unproportional depiction of horses and the dog by the cart. Morland usually has the same type of dog in most of his paintings. Whoever painted this copy did a rather good job, the painting is a lot darker than what I posted, just brightened it up for a clearer view. John: Constable was one of my fathers favourites. I have two huge canvas prints of Constables to enjoy 'The Haywain' and 'The Cornfield' and an engraving of 'The Valley Farm'. Now that this one mystery is solved I may have to post another. Thanks again!! Slainte! Eirene |
