Default Can someone PLEASE identify this painting/artist?

Hi,

I came into possession of this painting some years ago but I have never been able to find any information at all to help me identify it. I cannot even decipher the artists signature. If anyone out there has any idea who painted it or any information pertaining to it, please let me know. I would be very grateful. Thank you very much for your time.

I can be contacted at doctormod@gmail.com , or you can just post here and I will check back periodically. Please forgive my ignorance.

PS I know they are terrible pics, but if better ones are need, just let me know and I will take more. Again, Thanks a ton in advance.

I think the signature says "H. Schaeffer".

I don't know any specifics about the artist, but if you do a search in Google or Google images (put the search phrase "H Schaeffer" in double quotes), you will see some references to the same artist.

Default Thanks!!

I did google that name and the signature on the other paintings looks just like this one. I just wanted to get on here and thank you for your time and info!
Now, all I have to do is find out what it will cost me to get it restored.

Does anyone know if getting it restored will raise or lower the value? I am not sure if people want an "original" state or restored state painting. Thank you to John and the community.

Restorers can do an excellent job of cleaning off and repairing paintings. If you had it properly done I wouldn't worry about harming the value. But it can be expensive -- somewhere over $1,000, probably.

Not to suggest that the potential sale price of the painting is its only value, but you'd probably want to start with an appraisal and make decisions from there. You can get some very basic starting info from findartinfo.com, but a professional appraiser will be able to advise you properly.
