I have been intensly searching for an incredibly touching and heart warming painting that I noticed during the opening credits of the movie "Man's Best Friend" starring Ally Sheedy that came out in 1993. It is a simple scene of a man seated in a chair with his face buried in his hands, in deep grief over something and his loving hound is resting his head on his master's knee. The noble pet is sensing or perhaps sharing his master's misery. I don't recall any other items or scenery in the artwork; simply a barren room and the two intense characters.
I strongly beseach anyone who can identify this work of art to reply and let me know. I have a very dear friend who just discovered a black labrador nesting in a ditch outside his rural home. The dog had been shot and was in great pain. The immediately took the forlorn creature to the vet who had to remove the dog's right front leg to save his life. My friend and his family have no idea where the dog came from, but they've taken him into their home. It is still recovering from the amputation but shows a chearful and happy attitude. It is all I can to to keep my composure when I see him with the ghastly remnants of the doctor's work. If I can learn the identity of the painting and artist, and with God's will find a sourced for a print, I will do my best to present it to my friend; he has shown the greatest compassion and love just as the hound does to his master in the painting. I fervently pray that I can hear from somebody soon. Regards John |
