Repost ..
My grandmother had a litho hanging in her house for years which I now have. It reminds me of a painting by C M Coolidge or Arthur Sarnoff. I would be happy to e-mail a digital to anyone interested in seeing it. I've not been able to ID it so far but it is a courtroom scene of dogs. The accused is sitting on top of a black goat and has a rope around his neck [accused is blindfolded] and being pulled along by another dog wearing a dunce cap. It would perhaps suggest 'blind justice" to me. There is in the forground another dog holding a pipe [also wearing a dunce cap] and a black cape. There's an audience of dogs on both side of the picture with 'the apparent board of judge dogs] in the background. The courtroom has a red carpet. Curious to the artist of this painting and when it was painted. What I have looks like it may have been cut out of a magazine or whatever and isn't in terrible shape but not the best either. ken kencool@sbcglobal.net |
