Hi,
Hello everyone, I'm a first time visitor here. I hope I can draw on the collective expertise of the community here. Can anyone help me I.D. this image? Any ideas who the artist is? Does anyone know the title? Thanks for your efforts. Best, Sergio ![]() Last edited by sergio : June 5th, 2009 at 02:33 PM. |

Perhaps it's Frans Hals.
Maybe it's a detail. Anybody have an educated guess? |

Sorry, no idea. What's he doing with his hand? It kind of looks like he's making a "gun" pointing at the viewer, but that sort of pose seems anachronistic.

Hi John,
Thanks for replying. I agree, his pose does look completely out place with the time period. I'm guessing that it is just a coincidence that he's gesturing in a way that we associate with a modern greeting. I'm also thinking that the image is a detail of a larger work. I suppose I'm going to keep digging through art texts in the hopes of coming across the source image. |
