Default Atists Name and Nature of Painting

I was given a painting of what is labeled at the bottom as "Artist's Proof" and signature on the bottom appears to be Karim. It is a painting of two young ladies. The first young lady in the foreground has long flowing hair, no clothes and looking off to the right (her left). The second young lady in the background is positioned over the left shoulder of the first, is looking left and has a blanket or toga type cloth covering her lower section. I do not know the origin of painting nor anything about the artist.

I think an artist's proof is an example of a print of some kind. It's one of the trial prints that are created before the artist begins to created the numbered edition.
