I have a contemporary painting of a creamy white Greek cruise liner on a sunny azure blue sea with a blue sky over...it's not realist but going that way ...it's in a similar style to the work of Graham McKean...
Only this painting is just signed Guy. I bought it in a gallery in London's Covent Garden in the late eighties early nineties. I seem to remember paying between 4 or 8 thousand pounds for it. The reason I'm confused is I bought three works by the same artist. One of the other works was the same ship no wrecked on some rocks in a dark sunset. The other painting was of Don Giovanni 'in the style' of a famous Renaissance painting of the subject that hangs in the Louvre. The story goes 'Guy' had a block ... apparently he couldn't paint for a while...started again by doing his own versions of some old masters works to kick start his career and work again...this was one of those works.... For me the style is so like Graham Mc Kean they could be the same painters So who is 'Guy'? Thank you in anticipation |
