I salvaged this water color from the basement of a house I moved into which had flooded. It was intact but had major mold growing in between the glass and the painting. So I felt I had no choice but to cut the paper off of the back and dismantle the painting out of the frame in order to try to quickly save it.
Once I cleaned the mold off using a dry cloth, I saw this painting which I find to be very interesting and wish someday soon to have it restored. But I would like to know who painted it. The only identification I could find is "august 44" in the left hand corner. A couple of pictures of it can be seen on this webpage: http://home.rr.com/jeanniemartin Thank you for any help. Hmmm, it works for me, but you have to wait for a while for the picture to appear (it's embedded in a Flash applet). However I don't recognize the artist.
