Hello,
I inherited 3 paintings from my granddad. I would like more information on the artist H. Jackson which are 2 of the paintings, the third has no signature and I think its from a different artist. My granddad acquired the paintings during and just after World War 2 in either the Netherlands, Britain or Canada. I took some photos but the camera does not have a good macro. The frames were put on in late 1940's or early 1950's. I was born in 1965 so know these paintings and always liked them so they were given to me. I have been searching all over the net for H. Jackson but cannot find the info, it seems this artist was or is quite elusive. Maybe someone can help? I would also need to know if they need extra insurance. Sadly one cannot make out the signature on the more greyish picture or the date. On the one with the horse the signature is visible but cannot make out the date. The smallest picture has no signature or date at all. Barn painting (horse donkey and 2 men) oil on canvas 32 x 24 inches 81 x 61 centimetres grey landscape oil on canvas 26 x 28 inches 66 x 71 centimetres Ships oil on wood 11 x 10 inches 28 x 25.5 centimetres The pictures are a little bit stressed and maybe also dirty. The grey one in particular has stress lines on the canvas. Maybe they never got glossed or some kind of clear paint put on to protect the original work? Where in London can I get the pictures assessed and valued at a reasonable place? I put all the photos on this site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10092373@N02/ Many thanks, Pepper |
