Help identifying artist
In the late 50's my folks purchased a beautiful painting of the church in Ramsau bei Bertchesgaden while stationed in Germany. I have tried for years to identify the artist with no luck. In addition to the attached photo's of the painting and the artist's signature I have attached a photo of a note about the artist that my mom attached to the back of the picture years ago. She has also mentioned that the artist had said that he had one of his paintings hanging in the Japanese Embassy in Germany during the war when they purchased it from him.
I love researching things like this but am not having much luck - I would like to find out the correct spelling/name (the signature leaves several possibilities open-Rauche -Roche-etc.) so that I might continue searching for additional information on him. My mom will celebrate her 73rd birthday in September and I'm trying to make the information a birthday present.
