My in-laws have this painting and they have no idea what it is. They are calling it "Pandora" because she's holding a box and you can see Cerberus behind her. Other thoughts are that she is Persephone or Eurydice.
I am attaching the image. Thanks for any help! |

The painting is Psyche, by Alfred de Curzon. The original can be found at the Musee d'Orsay. I assume that is indeed Cerberus in the background.
