Default help to id louvre painting

Trying to find out the name and/or artist of a painting in the louvre. I have a fuzzy picture of it. It appears to be a man flying through the air. In the background may be a fire burning. On the ground are people who look to be dressed in colonial times, running away, but one person on the ground is looking up and appears to be praying. And it looks like there is a dog sitting on the ground. Can anyone help me ID this picture so I can order a print or copy for my boyfriend? thanks

Hi Denise;

Would this be the painting? http://www.louvre.fr/llv/oeuvres/detail_notice.jsp?

If not you can browse all paintings. http://www.louvre.fr/llv/oeuvres/toutes_oeuvres.jsp?

Regards,
Eirene

Sorry for the delay; I browsed all Louvre paintings and found it! It is called The Blessed Ranieri Rasini Freeing the Poor from Prison in Florence. Artist is Sassetta. Found a great print and gave it to my boyfriend as a gift. Thanks for your help.

I love the flying castle in this Sassetta http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/pa...ranciss-vision
He had a way with weightlessness.

Yes, that is great. Sassetta is one of my favorite painters from this era. He really seemed to take joy in rendering all the little details of a scene.

I went to the Louvre a couple of months ago and came across this painting in the first floor, Grande Galerie, Italy. It is a painting of a woman dressed in red and with a blue robe, on her knees and praying, opposite her stands an angel, with other angels overlooking her...does anyone have an idea what it might be called?? I have looked everywhere online, even on the Louvre website, where I see the painting but does not show the name...please help.

thanks in advance :P
