Need Help Identifying an artist monogram from early to mid-20th century Cubist style painting. Some wrote on the back of the frame, "painting by Maxwell". It was found in Northern NJ. Thanks, Bill

If those 3 vertical lines are intended to be an "M", then the name could be "D. Maxwell". The Getty ULAN database mentions two Donald Maxwells, one 1887-1936 and the other 1900-???? -- it's conceivable but far from certain that one of these could be the artist you seek.
