Default Franz Gustav Arndt (1842-1905)

Hello,
I recently acquired a beautiful landscape painting and in the process of identiying the artist. I think that I have narrowed it down to Franz Gustav Arndt. I would appreciate anyone who is familiar with the artist to confirm my suspicions. It subject is definitely Alpine. The signature in the bottom right corner is ARNDT (all caps). It is oil on canvas and adhered to plywood. The canvas is old. See attachments.
Thank you.

Default Another unidentified ARNDT (all caps)

Hello LB,

I am attaching a close-up view of the signature in the lower left corner of my alpine sunset painting by Arndt in the hope that you can establlish whether this is the same artist that did your painting. My painting was bought in the mid 1950s and does not appear to be as old as you believe your painting to be. I see no striking similarity to some other paintings by Franz-Gustav Arndt or by the artists kindly suggested by JD in response to my recent post. Only the apparent similarity of subject and signature when comparing your painting and mine remains intriguing. Thanks for any clarificaation you may be able to provide.

Try Francis Arndt. Your signature and the one on my painting look very similar. An Austrian oil painter. My painting was painted in the early 1950s and has the same beautiful style as yours.
