Default Help me describe a painting by Lawren Harris

Here is a link to the painting
http://www.vanartgallery.bc.ca/the_e...mages/dawn.jpg
The painting is called: "Moraine Lake". Medium: Oil on paperboard

How can I describe it in details? How was it made? What does it represent visually? What does it represent ideologically?

Here is some general information: The artists of the seminal Canadian landscape school the Group of Seven used the sketch as a fundamental tool in their artistic process. Sketching outdoors offered the practical means to document the landscape for later elaboration and encouraged experiments with new subjects, forms, colours and techniques.

To get you started, it's very Expressionistic (although I wouldn't use that word in an essay unless you're sure what exactly it means and that you agree with the assessment). My point is, look at some actual photographs of that famous lake and you'll see that the looming mountains are extremely exaggerated.

It would be very interesting to read a fully detailed description of this painting...
