Exclamation Escher?

My daughter is an aspiring artist in an advanced art class. Their latest assignment was to paint their own rendition of a famous painting, making changes, etc and not an actual copy of the painting. She chose a unique painting in which a man's hands are putting together a puzzle of his own face/bald head. I saw the original painting briefly in a book, and have now seen her final work. I think she did a great job on it, but would like to see the differences in her work and the original, ie...her interpretation.

They were only allowed to look at the original once or twice, and she cannot remember the artist or the name of the painting. She thought the original was by an artist named Earl Lam, and that the painting was titled "Escher" or "Eschel". I am familiar with MC Escher, and thought she might have mixed up the title/artist's name...and the piece looked as though it might have been his work, and possibly his own face/bald head being the one in the puzzle.

Any ideas on what this painting might actually be called and who the artist may be, if not Escher? Thanks for your help!
