This is actually a poster that my mom bought in the 70's and had shellacked to a piece of masonite. She has always loved it and so do I. I have looked and looked for the artist online, but I can't read the signature very well, and it's not dated, so...? The signature is in an unusual place, sort of scrawled across the top right portion of the painting, which may be a trademark of a particular artist. Due to the fact that there was a poster made of it I assume that it is not something that an unknown artist did in their basement. If anyone has ANY idea who did this I would really love to know. Thanks for reading!

I think this must be the work of Samuel Edward Oppenheim (1901-1992).Another work of his with the same oddly placed signature here http://archive.liveauctioneers.com/a.../0611_1_lg.jpg
A few more details about him here http://www.debruynefineart.com/artis...?artist_id=155 Last edited by Hercules Brabazon : October 5th, 2009 at 04:18 PM. |
