I have a large artist proof #2 etching of hers. It is entitled "The House That David Built". It is signed D. Loeb 1973 but on the back it says Dolores Loeb and there is an address 500 Kappock St. Riverdale, NY 10463. I couldn't find any info on her. Is anyone familiar with her?

I have a very small Dolores Loeb pen & ink drawing of a beautifully detailed tree purchased in N.Y. dated 1971. Might have been at the Washington Square Art Show. The address on the back of the piece is 6 Arch Lane, Hicksville, N.Y. 11801. This is all I have or know about the artist and the piece. If anyone has any more information on this artist, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some photos of mine.
http://picasaweb.google.com/davidfallucco/Loeb# The dimensions from rough edge to rough edge are 39inches x 27inches. The dimensions from the plate mark(not sure if that is the right term) are 23 1/2inches x 35 1/4inches. The writings in pencil A/P #2, title, and artist name are just outside the plate mark. There is also the title in the etching itself written vertically downwards. Sorry for the glare. |

This probably isn't particularly useful to anyone, but the one thing I can find is this list of works, photographs of which are in the Smithsonian archives. They date from 1962-73.

Thanks I found this when I first started looking last year but didn't bookmark it and since then I couldn't find it again or anything else about the artist.
I googled most of the titles and nothing comes up. You would think if they bothered to take photos of so many of her works that some of the works or her would be known. |

Hi,
Delores Loeb was my Aunt. She was married to my Uncle Alfred (my Dad's brother) in the late 60's. Both played for the American Ballet Theater. Delores played the French Horn and Alfred played first Clarinet. Delores always had a passion for art. Their home was filled with her art work. They divorced in the mid 70's. My uncle Alfred passed away several years ago. The last contact we had with Delores was when my uncle passed in 1996. I was lucky enough to acquire a Delores Loeb piece of work titled the Cloisters. My sister too have some of her work as well. I remember she did all of her pen and ink with NYC in mind. Also did some works of muscical instruments but those never to my knowledge were sold. They were pieces of work of my uncle's clarinet. I can remember Delores setting up at the curbs of Greenwich Village out of her Volkswagon vehicle. My Mom and Dad used to take me and my 4 sisters to the Village on Sundays especially during "Art Season" to see Delores and of course Alfred. I was 5 or 6 at the time. I don't know if Delores is still alive but if she is, she would be close to mid 70's early 80's of age. I hope this helps some of you. All the best, Joey Loeb |
