Hs anyone heard of an antique artist called Albert Krafft? I have just bought a lovely oil on canvas and there is an inscription saying its by him.
The picture is of the inside of a Monastery depicting a funeral of a Monk. Not to everyones taste but i love it |

He seems to have been working in Germany in the mid 19th Century. All the pictures I can find by him e.g. http://www.artfact.com/auction-lot/a...1-c-43434strxi are copies of works by other artists such as Raphael, Mignard, Liotard, Lotto, and Holbein.

At one time he was living in Dresden - Germany. That must have been around 1850's. Around that time he copied a painting from the Dresden Gallery and on the the backside of another painting he wrote his name and Dresden.
It is possible that he was a writer too because a Albert Krafft wrote a book in 1845 called "Catalogue de la Galerie de tableaux impériale et royale au Belvédère á Vienne" This is a Catalogue of all pieces of art in the Gallery of the Belvedere at Vienna in 1845. |
