Hi, this is a long shot, but I thought I ask anyway. I inherited a small painting, approx. 6 inches by 5 inches in a lovely cream coloured ornate frame, with a sticker on it
Peerart Products, An original Painting not numbered. Artist: Corna. Title: Flower piece It was stamped in Germany as imported or exported art. It shows a lovely flower piece in a dark green vase. On the bottom left is a signature but it is very difficult to work out whether it says in individual letters Corna or anything else. Is there anybody who can tell me a little more about it? Many thanks LL2009 |

A little information on Peerart.
They were originally called J.Pearson & Co, based at the Peerart Works in Colne, Lancashire (England.) Exhibiting at a 1947 trade fair they described themselves as " Manufacturers of Barbola Reproductions and Modern Frames and Frameless Mirrors, Framed Pictures and Picture Frame Moulding, Firescreens Hand Painted Glassware and Hand Decorated Fancy Goods." They seem later to have adopted the name of the works as the company name. Being mostly a frame company they may well of course have brought in the pictures from elsewhere. |

My gt gt grandfather's family owned Peerart's in Colne. It was purely a picture framers workshop. so the label only refers to the frame. Sorry can't help further but good to know that some of their frames are still around.

I have two of similar miniature paintings, the stickers on the back stating "Peerart Products" and "An Original Painting: Artist Kothera: Titles 'Flower Piece' and 'Mixed Bunch'. There is an online reference to the auction of a Kothera drawing but I don't know anything else about the artist.

Hello all. I also inherited a small oil painting, approx. 6 inches by 5 inches in a lovely cream coloured ornate frame, with a sticker on it
Peerart Products, An original Painting not numbered. Artist: Haller Title: Mountain Scene The painting is signed Haller There is a signature on the back above the label . It seem like "Purves" Noting the great information from Jackie South regarding her gt grandfather's family owning Peerart's in Colne. Being a picture framers workshop and the label only refers to the frame does anyone know why Peerart put signed oil paintings to display their frames. Where they displayed at an exhibition and if so when? Do you have any access to Peerart records as to where they bought the paintings from? Does anyone collect paintings that Peerart framed? Is there anybody who can give any more information. Many thanks DF1951 |
