Having trouble naming painting and Artist

Hi I am trying to find out about an Oil painting my Mum had bought. She bought it at a second hand store about 5 years ago. I have been trying to find out who painted it but have had no luck. It is an Oil painting, in the painting there is a man who is fishing on the beach and there are boats in background. My mum has said there is alot of red in it if that helps and also the signature we think it is has the letter N and then next to it has a dot with a line underneath the dot.

If you could help that would be great.

Better to post a picture, if you've got one. A clear photograph of the signature would help too.
