Default Bought this painting in a second hand store

Like the Title says I bought a painting in a second hand store. It is real since you can see the brush srokes. It shows a house on a cliff almost in the dark, with two windows from where you can see a light inside. On the left side is the sunset. The painting is very beautiful, it changes from th darkness on the left side where the house is to the sunset on the right. Nothing abstract, very realistic. It also has two dock posts on the right side in the bottom. The water has colors of gray, orange, and yellow. It is signed Johannes but it looks like inside the J there is an O. On the bottom of the signature it has: # 78
I wouldl ike to know if anyone has any information about the painter or the painting. I check everywhere and it doesn't have a title written.
Thank you for your help.

I can't read the signature too well, but that number could be the date -- as in 1978.

Not sure about the symbol inside the J. Perhaps a copyright symbol? I think it's kind of crass, but some artists do put a copyright symbol on their paintings these days.
