Default Can you help identify a painting signed "barton"?

I have this Painting with the name signed "Barton" on the bottom. It is on canvas with what I believe is oil paint. Could you possibly identify the painters name and any information you have about them?

Thanks!

I have a painting as well. Exact same signature, same style of painting, and like you no nothing about it. I am on Vancouver Island and bought it approx 13 yrs ago. It would be interesting to know where and when you received yours and we could probably break it down.

I also have this "barton" signed oil on canvas of a female nude back, given to us approx. 15 yrs ago by a friend who has since passed. I will soon post a photo of it and try to contact family of the deceased for more info. We live near Philadelphia, Pa. but the previous owner was a realtor and dealt in upscale properties and traveled much.

Hey u guys, my mom got these 2 paintings signed Barton at the bottom right hand corner - her late brother gave them to her as a gift. She has never got around to frame them. Both are wildlife - one with zeberas and the other elephants.

I too just picked up a small BARTON nude today in New York City. Very mid-century, late 50s, early 60s I would say, very gloppy oil paint and BEAUTIFUL!

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have 3 nudes (all seated with their backs to us). Does anyone know what Barton's first name is so I can look up price?

Signature matches the first person who posted. Obtained in the US; saw another listed in the same style (oil, impressionistic) Nice coloration

I think the "Barton "painting must come from the same source as the "Gailey" painting discussed here

http://www.artconversation.com/quest...yone-help.html

i.e the workshops of the Asia Company(HK) in Hong Kong.

Default That may well be,but,,,

That may well be-except that my girlfriend still remembers the man who sold her the painting, carrying a few unframed canvasses from house to house and trying to sell them. That was some 16 years ago,in one of the northern suburbs of Johannesburg,South Africa-and he was deffinitely a caucasian..

@ thecomedian
Hercules is spot on. I have always thought that about all these Barton paintings, this person must have been a wiz at painting there's so many of them.

Sounds good to me.But is there anyone else that can upload his/her "Barton" nude painting ? I mean,a nude woman from the back, not that scene of a street and a cafe-shop that appears in the first thread here and in that website from Hong-Kong ?
