![]() Hi, my grandfather bought this painting in Hampstead in London sometime between 1940's-50's ish I think. It is painted on paper with watercolour and coloured egg whites (so I've been told). My mother would like to find out who the artist is (or was) - No markings whatsoever. Many thanks if you can help Jon Starling starlingjon at hotmail.com |

The technical term for this technique is "egg tempera"
The style reminds me of some of the work of John Craxton, who died a few weeks ago http://www.tate.org.uk/servlet/Artis...tid=958&page=1 I'm not sure it is by him, but it's a possibility worth investigating: he lived in Hampstead, and sometimes used tempera. http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesi...axton-obituary Last edited by Hercules Brabazon : December 9th, 2009 at 11:22 AM. |
