My friend saw it in the national gallery in Edinburgh, but since being back cannot find it on the net anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it for her.
It is painted by Frans van Miesen the elder who I know is a dutch painter. In the painting is a woman playing a lute. Does anyone know if there is a site or anything that will show me a list of his paintings as I can imagine there is probably a few paintings of a woman playing the lute. My friend described it as being a small painting of a woman looking to her left and holding a lute. She is wearing a cream dress. If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks Clairebear006 |

Haw... that is just what I was thinking Hercules. I couldn't locate anything on Frans van Miesen. There is no Frans van Mieris listed in the galleries so perhaps it was on loan..

Possibly, though I think the National Galleries of Scotland database is far from complete.
