I'm hoping somebody might help me identify the artist of this painting. I have taken a close up picture of the signature, but as you can see it still is not very clear. Maybe you'll recognize the style of the signature or the style of painting. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Personally I do not recognize that second painting, but you can start a new thread by going to the "Questions" forum list of topics and clicking "New Thread".

Which painting are you referring to as second? Dapman's second or the one I stuck up there because I could not figure out how to post it otherwise? Thanks!

Good catch, saintmarc.
Ribcowsky's work isn't especially valuable (you can see some sample results on findartinfo.com), but he's a very accomplished artist. Some of his sunsets are saturated almost to the point of being syrupy, but this painting is a wonderful treatment of a subtle and unusual subject -- deep sea swells with no boats or land in sight. I believe he must have been influenced by Ivan Aivazovsky, another artist I admire. |
