Identify this Painting?
Hi all,
I'd really like to know the artist and name of this painting: http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/13307505/2737414 I think it's fairly well known, but I have nothing to go on here and can't find a reference. Thanks, Dan |

It's a great painting by Caspar David Friedrich. I've seen several versions of the title, either because Friedrich didn't give it a specific name or because the translation from the German varies. It's basically "The Wanderer above the Mists".

Wonderful, thanks! For some reason I thought it was in one of the major London art galleries, and spent quite a bit of time digging through their collections.
