The smaller size are reprints and do go for about 50 to 100 dollars. originals in period frames are worth much more.

I also have this print/painting. Can't really tell what it is. Does anyone out there have any current information on it? Value?

The image was one of many used by Dr. Eugene H. Mullan with immigrants coming into Ellis Island to determine if they were normal and deserving of constitutional rights. He was a psychiatrist and would ask the immigrants what was occurring in the picture - from there he would determine if they were normal or abnormal (feeble-minded, idiot, moron were the descriptive words used). These tests were given between 1890-1924.

I too have one of these prints, in a very old guilded frame. It belonged to my grandmother. I would love to know more about its originality.
Thanks. |

I have just recently picked this print-Litho up as well. I to walked away from it a few times also but the next day I went back and just had to have it..I am dying to know who the artist was in 1853 and how and where do I get it appraised? I would never sell it I am obsessed with it and cant stop looking at how great it is and the feeling and story is one we can all relate to when we were children
Please anyone more info!! -Rachael |
