Thank you for your reply ann62. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your painting and/or give any info you have about where and when the picture of your mum was painted?

Thanks.

Ray

Hi iv, if you have read all of the previous postings about RH, you know that we are trying to identify these formally unknown works. Also any and all information about where and when your painting was done, any memories about the artist.

We are working on a book, so if it is at all possible to post a picture of your painting with special attention to the signature, it may be included.

Please join us in this research project.

Cheers, C.C.G

Hi anne62, reading your note a second time it appears that your painting is of your Mum ? Was it done in hamburg after WW 11? Was your Dad in the British occupation ?

Looking forward to your reply.

Cheers, C.C.G.

To Ann, thank you for your speedy reply. We hope to fill in the missing years in Rudolf Herrmann's (RH) life.

Can you please post the pix of your painting on this thread ? If it is not dated, do you know when it was painted ? Do you know if it was done in Hamburg ? Do you remember any stories that your Dad told about the painter---was he released from a concentration camp ? Any stories about your Dad's role in trying to bring Hamburg from its chaos and devastation---how the people survived ?

Thank you for joining our merry band of RH researchers.

Cheers, Claire

Thank you Ann62 for the photos of the RH painting of your lovely Mum dated 1948. We are trying to establish RH's residency in Hamburg before his return to Vienna. Since the painting was done from a photo, I am assuming that your Mum was not in Germany with your Dad ?

I am also trying to discover if RH had been a prisoner in a Hamburg prison---during the war---there are few records left. Any stories that your Dad told about RH as well as conditions in Hamburg would be helpful. When was he sent to Hamburg and how long was he there ?

We are all on a quest to fill in the gaps in RH's life and only recently. via Ray's posting of his Dad's painting, were we able to place him in post WW11 Hamburg.

Many thanks again. looking forward to your next reply. Claire

I have a really good picture by Rud Herrman that is of the town of Wurzburg a city on the Northern Tip of Bavaria. It looks as though it is just pre-war and was framed at Kaiserstr. Wurzburg.

Hope this helps your search

Phillip

to Philip, we would be most pleased to see a photo, with signature of your painting. Can you provide any information about it, was it purchased and if so where ? Was it handed down to you and by whom, when and where ?

We are trying to establish RH's whereabouts from the early 1930's in Berlin to his return to Vienna in 1948. A very long period. We have solid evidence of his presence in Hamburg. Germany in 1938 then in Hamburg in the years 1945-1948.

Do join us on this research trip.

Cheers, Claire

Hi,
Rud Herr Mann was a German Artist. After WW2 he painted many pictures for the allied forces. I have one painted by him of my late wife in 1948. (Done by a picture a RAF (My brother-in-law had of his sister.) had.

I was told that he was famous before the war?
