Can you identify this painting or signature?

Can anyone identify this painting or the signature?
People often comment on the painting so it would be nice to know something about it. The painting is oil on canvas, approximately 10 ½ x 7 ½ inches.
It was bought in the mid 90’s from Dorchester Antiques Market (Dorset).
On the back of the painted wooden frame is written;
195-75 (in chalk) and £ XIV PP (in pencil).

Oh man...if someone can ID that signature they deserve a prize. It is beyond my understanding why artists do no properly identify themselves in their art work. Clear signatures. Are they ashamed of their work? Or perhaps they just don't care?

Have you looked up artists in Dorset?
