I will try to provide as much as I possibly can, with great hopes that someone can help me figure out what in the world I might be holding.
Original: Artist: Roy Lichtenstein Title: Yellow Brushstroke II Year: 1965 Original details and photo here: the original Mine: Medium: Print (texture on black ink leads me to believe it is a screen print) Dimensions: 6"x18" The print is signed in blue pencil by Lichtenstein with what (I think) is a date directly to the bottom right of it. I can't make out the date well enough to say with certainty, but it appears to read '69 Here's the thing. I have contacted the Lichtenstein foundation to request more information on this piece and have come up largely empty handed. According to them, no prints have ever been authorized of this piece. Which would make sense, if: 1) it weren't signed 2) it didn't exist =) Can anyone provide insight on...well...anything? I have no clue where or how it was printed, why it's not in any records, or really anything at this point =) -m13 |

It appears to be the same work. I even zoomed in and matched up the dots in several places. The original does appear to be an oil on canvas, so as I see it your work must be a photographic reproduction of some kind.
It could conceivably be a preparatory work (the original is very large), but it's hard to believe the images could match that precisely. Also the original dates from 1965. |
