Default Trying to identify a painting

I hope someone can help me with this question. Years ago I saw a painting (or drawing) of what I think was a ballroom, maybe late 18th century. The ballroom is populated with people dancing. The interesting thing was that under the floor were a number of other people breaking up through the ballroom floor interrputing the party. I think I saw a reprint of the painting in a school textbook, circa 1985, probably in a chapter on the communist revolution in Russia. The people above and below represent the rich and the poor, respectively. I would like to take another look at it, but could not find any reference to it on the internet. My suspicion was that it may have been from a well-known artist since it ended up in a text book. Thanks for any suggestions.
