Iconic Painting Aquired back in WW2. Whos the Artist?

Small Painting of Mother Mary, It was bought in Germany and contained a german love letter in the back of it. I had it translated but it says nothing of who painted it. Please help.

that did help, its very interesting info on the painting itself. I hope mabey someone can identify the signature on the back, which is the third picture. thank you

I flipped the image and enlarged it. Hopefully someone with better eyes than mine can decipher it.
