Default Lady in Red Dress

This may be a little late by I have the same painting signed by M. Ditlef. Sonata is simply the framing company. I am not sure of the worth but picked it up from an elderly lady I was helping move. I would like to sell but need to see the amount of worth still researching. If you fing anything out let me know. Thank you. I will do the same.

Smile SONATA M. dITLEF

The painting may be a reproduction print. I have one that hung in my parents home for over 40 years. I thought it was a painting too. but after research, I was disappointed to learn it was a print. The prints are worth anywhere from 50 to over a hundred depending on color and condition, frame.

Default lady in red at the piano

painting is by m ditlef, and that painting has been around our area, for awhile, and most ppl have gotten rid of it. It is said to fall off the wall right before someone dies. I have found this to be true, so maybe there is some history here on what you were saying about violence. (your words were a little mixed up, so I wasnt quite sure what you were saying.

Default Sonata.com

The painting of Sonata by Ditlef was purchased by Turner mfg. co in Chicago Illinois. The painting was purchased soley for the purpose of publishing prints.

At the time Turner Mfg. was the largest producer of framed pictures. The painting was reproduced in many sizes. These reproductions were sold framed continually until Turner mfg. was retired by its owner sometime during the eighties.

The painting was sold to Turner Mfg. as an original and included all publication rights. Any additional paintings on the market are cosidered copies of the original.

I represented Turner as a sales representative for 25 years and purchased the painting when Turner closed down. It is currently held by my daughter. All the time Turner owned the painting it was helg in a vault.
