Looks to be of pretty good quality. Is this an oil painting, or a print of an oil painting?

As for the artist, to me it looks like the work of Jozef Israels. See Google Images for a variety of domestic scenes of this type by Jozef Israels.

Wow, thanks so much. It is original oil that has been passed down, we had for quite some time but never really thought to find out more info until now.

Thanks
Again

Do you know a good appraiser?

Okay, but it appears to be a copy of The Frugal Meal which, as Saintmarc says, seems to be in the Glasgow Museum. I can't find it on the museum's website, but I did come across a couple of online references that place it there.

Hi John

It does not apperar to be a copy, have contacted Glasgow and waiting for reply.
The frame appears to be mid to late 1800,s (used wood corner keys, very old wood, canvas very old.)
It is oil on canvas and it is difficult to find signature but i think its there.

Thanks again.
